When to book for trip to Vegas in September

My wife and 2 or 3 other couples are planning a trip to Vegas in late September this year. Looking through the hotel deals for Vegas, I noticed that there aren’t many deals yet for late September. When is a good time to book this trip? Is the sooner the better?

We’ll also be flying to Vegas from Detroit and would like to know when the best time to book airfare is as well. I’ve done some searching and have found that Spirit seems to have the best prices currently. Is it beneficial to book airfare and hotel together or can it be done for cheaper separately?

Any help is appreciated.
